My family recently sent me a photo of my nephew receiving music therapy in his hospital room as he had a short inpatient stay. He loved his music therapy and it helped pass the time with more joy at the very least. More research studies have come out in the past few years of how therapeutic music can be, at a deep level. Music has been used since ancient times for its ability to influence our "old brain", affecting us at the emotional level.
